Should You Go Ductless This Summer?

Female holding a remote control air conditioner at home. Happy young woman on sofaWith temperatures still on the milder side, it may be hard to fathom needing our air conditioners in just a couple of months. Nevertheless, summer is on its way, and when warmer weather hits you’ll be grateful for a fully functional and efficient air conditioning system.

By now, you should at least have AC maintenance on your schedule, if you haven’t already had the service done. A yearly tune-up for your cooling system ensures it can work as effectively as possible all summer long. But what if this is the year you’ve discovered you need a new cooling system? Then we encourage you to consider Denver, CO ductless air conditioning!

What It Means to Go Ductless

Ductless cooling (and heating) is a reliable way to condition your home. Ductless systems are built to the same performance standards as a traditional heat pump—that is, an air conditioner that can reverse directions to provide heating in the winter just as effectively as cooling in the summer.

A refrigerant line runs between the outdoor and indoor portions of a ductless unit, rather than having a large indoor unit separate from a large outdoor unit, or rather than having half of a wall unit outside. This means ductless systems save space and don’t require major renovations to your home in order to install.

Refrigerant transfers heat out of the air in your home during the summer, and releases that heat outdoors. The outside unit contains a fan and a condenser coil to help heat dissipate into the air. And the inside blower units are mounted high up on the walls in the rooms they’re meant to condition, and connected to the outdoor unit via a conduit.

The biggest benefit of going ductless is, as the name implies, the system doesn’t require ducts. So, if your home can’t accommodate their installation or you have older, degrading ductwork, you don’t have to worry about it!

Additional Ductless Benefits

  • You receive the same dependable central cooling and heating you can expect from a central heat pump, without home renovations.
  • Ductless systems are far more efficient than portable or window unit air conditioners, helping you save money.
  • You have the option to zone control the inside units for better temperature precision in only rooms that need it.
